Ron Garrison’s wildlife and scenic photographs are recognized throughout the world. As a photographer, his career spans more than 66 years. For 38 of those years, he served as the San Diego Zoo’s lead photographer, manager of photographic services and Curator of Photography.
His first work as a photographer was in the US Army. Following his military service, he worked at KOLD-TV in Tucson, AZ and documented Mercury, Apollo, and other aerospace projects for Ryan Aeronautical Company in San Diego, CA.
From koalas and giant pandas to bottlenose dolphins and seahorses, his images have appeared in national and international newspapers and magazines, in coffee table and children’s books, and on posters, note cards, calendars and CD’s.

Traveling the seven continents, he photographed scientific and conservation projects in Africa, Australia, Antarctica, the Arctic, China, Papua New Guinea, Sumatra, Russia, and Ukraine . Although retired from the San Diego Zoo, he also judges photographic competitions, lectures and conducts workshops. |
